  • What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing. It is a process of delicately implanting pigment into the skin for aesthetic purposes which will enhance and build up colour in areas of the facial features. Special techniques, pigments and tools are used to provide a natural looking result that is tailored to each individual. Results are long lasting with regular touch up appointments.
  • Do i need a consultation?
At the start of every treatment, you will recieve a full consultation to discuss in detail about your goals and preferances to find out what techniques are most suitable for you. If you prefer, you can book in for a seperate 15 minute consultation appointment. This is highly recommended if you have existing permanent makeup that was carried out by another artist.
  • Do I need a patch test?
Although an allergic reaction is rare, it is highly recommended to have a sensitivity patch test which will be carried out during your consultation appointment. Alternatively, the patch test kit can be sent out to you through the post.
  • How do i book myself in?
Please email me on emmataybrows@gmail.com for all treatment bookings including consultations. For permanent makeup bookings, a non refundable £50 booking fee is required to secure your appointment and is redeemable against the treatment cost. Once you are booked in, all relevant forms will be sent to you via email. Please make sure you complete them before your appointment date.
  • How do I prepare myself for permanent makeup
Once you have booked your permanent makeup appointment, please make sure that you have completed everything stated below. - Medical and consent forms - Your forms are sent to you via email, please complete and submit them as soon as you can. - Patch test kit - When needed, a patch test kit will be sent to you through the post. Please make sure you complete your patch test before the day of your appointment. - Pre-advice - Please ensure that you have read the pre-advice section on this website which includes important information on how to prepare for permanent makeup.
  • What happens during my first new treatment appointment?
You may want to come prepared with some photos of shapes and colours you like. I will guide you through your options of techiques, colour choices and then sketch out a pre drawing on the treated area which can be adjusted to your preferance. I will only proceed to the next step once you are comfortable and happy with the predrawing. Most people need at least 2 appointments 4-8 weeks apart to achieve the desired effects. Once your first initial treatment has been completed, you will then be asked to book in for your complimentary appointment (one 'top up within 4-8 week's is included with every new permanent makeup price).
  • Can permanent makeup look natural?
Absolutely. If you are after a natural looking result with permanent makeup, you are in good hands! I understand that everyone's definition of 'natural' can vary so by giving you the option of being able to build the colour gradually through multiple session, you are in control. There are also many different effects to choose from. My goal is to create the most natural looking 'undetectable' forms of permanent makeup that makes a big difference.
  • Is permanent makeup a painful procedure?
Most people will feel a slight scratching sensation on the skin during the procedure with minimal discomfort, some people have even mentioned that they find the treatment relaxing! If you are worried about pain, you can obtain a topical anastetic such as Emla or LMX-4 at a pharamacy which you can apply before the treatment.
  • What to expect during the healing process
Everyone heals slightly differently and the healing time for each individual can vary slightly depending on your skin and the area that was worked on. The enhancement will look more define and darker while healing but once healed, can lose up to 20-60% of the pigment. It can take up to 4-6 weeks for the skin to fully regenerate in order to see the final result of each treatment. Please follow all aftercare advice given to get optimum results.
  • When should I touch up my permanent makeup?
Once fully healed, your permanent makeup will gradually fade off the skin over time. There are several factors that could contribute to how much the skin can retain the pigment and how quickly the fade. Factors including skin type, health, medication, diet, sun exposure and skincare (retinol/tretinoin and acids) which can contribute to a faster fade. Once you have achieved the desired results, it is highly recommended to return for regular touch up appointments every 6-18 months to keep your permanent makeup looking its best.
